HISTORY
The JoinT Program was started by Dr. Jay Sheridan. Dr. Sheridan has over 30 years experience as a Primary Care and Sports Medicine Physician. He trained at Queen's University and The University of Ottawa. He started The JoinT Program after years of experience working with the Canadian Forces, and with elite professional and amateur athletes. While working with these athletes he harnessed the extensive resources within his clinic to develop treatment strategies that would allow his injured patients to function at the highest level. These strategies utilized a number of resources including, physiotherapy, physician assistants, athletic therapy, nursing, physicians, and admin resources. Dr. Sheridan was also able to integrate his advanced joint injection strategies, including guided steroid, HA, and PRP and stem cell treatments. What he learned was that patients receiving care through his collaborative team performed far superior than if they accessed any one resource in isolation. The JoinT Program was born. Its goal is to take a collaborative approach to hip and knee arthritis, to aggressively treat the underlying problem, to recognize knee and hip arthritis as chronic diseases, and thus take a long term approach to management.
